Classroom timer basics

Run a calm, readable countdown for invigilators and the whole room.

Why a dedicated exam timer

Generic clocks and phone timers distract a room. ExamManager’s classroom timer is built for invigilators: large digits, clear status, and controls that stay out of the way until you need them.

Typical flow

  1. Create or open an exam session with subject name, start time, and duration.
  2. Start the timer when candidates begin writing.
  3. Pause or add extra time only when the room rules allow it.
  4. End the session and mark the paper complete.

Tips for exam day

  • Keep the display visible to the invigilator desk and, when useful, a projected student view.
  • Prefer one primary timer per room; use multi-exam sessions when papers overlap.
  • Agree start and finish signals with staff before the first paper begins.
